Chelsea legend John Terry has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to get to the 1000-goal mark in his career. Terry praised the Portuguese star's longevity and claimed the end was still not near for Ronaldo.

Speaking to DAZN (via O Jogo), Terry claimed that Ronaldo would fulfil his dream of scoring 1000 goals. He added that it was a pleasure to watch the former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar, saying:

"Top players like Cristiano are like that. He's phenomenal, incredible. He's one of those players that we could just watch. The goals, the movement. He loves to score goals and earned that right from the start. And to continue to do what he does at 39 years old is absolutely incredible. And believe me, it has not yet come to an end. He's aiming for a thousand goals and he'll get there. I really hope he can, it's a pleasure to watch him play."

Cristiano Ronaldo has so far scored 908 career goals for club and country. He recently admitted that he was nearing retirement, but wanted to push for more goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo admits he wants to score 1000 goals

Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to Rio Ferdinand on the latter's podcast earlier this year and stated that he wanted to score 1000 goals in his career. He was proud of becoming the first to score 900 goals in the history of football and challenged himself to score more.

He said:

"I want to reach 1,000 goals. If I don't have any injuries, this for me is the most important [thing], I want that. For me, the best mark that I can have in football is to reach, first, 900 goals. After, my challenge is to be at 1,000 goals. All the goals I have scored, they have video. They all have video. Listen, I respect all of them [Pele and Di Stefano]. And if you want more goals I can bring them from training. I will prove to the people. They prefer this player, or this is the best one. I don't care about that."

Lionel Messi recently broke Cristiano Ronaldo's record of the fastest to score 850 career goals.
