According to a report by MARCA, Manchester City star Matheus Nunes has been arrested in Spain over a bizarre theft case. The Portugal international is allegedly accused of taking a man's mobile phone by force in a Madrid nightclub.

According to Luis F. Duran, who was quoted by MARCA, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder was detained by the police after a night out at the La Riviera Nightclub. He gave a statement and was released a few hours later after allegedly "robbing" the phone from someone taking a photo of him in the bathroom.

Nunes joined Manchester City last season but has seen game time difficult to come by with the reigning English champions. He has played only 1587 minutes spread across 35 games for Pep Guardiola's side following his reported €62 million move from the midland.

The midfielder will now await the decision of the courts to see what or if any punishment is meted out to him.

Manchester City boss hails team after Champions League win

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hailed his team following their comfortable 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday (October 1). The English champions picked up their first win in the tournament this season in emphatic fashion much to the pleasure of their Catalan manager.

Speaking to the press after the final whistle, Guardiola hailed his playing squad for their performance in the game, saying via First Post:

“The group of players are fantastic, we played a good game, a lot of chances and the first three points of the competition. But I’m not thinking about (goal difference), win your games it will be enough. Today, made the first victory you know, to (move up) the table a little bit higher than we were, so it’s nice.”

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will be keen to claim the UEFA Champions League for a second time in the club's history. On October 23, they will host a Sparta Prague side that is currently undefeated in the competition as well.
