Manchester United and Thomas Tuchel's representatives have reportedly started talks over the German potentially taking over at Old Trafford.

Tuchel has confirmed that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Bayern previously announced that Tuchel will leave despite having 12 months remaining in his deal. However, they reportedly considered making a u-turn on the approach.

Tuchel, though, has now told the media that he will leave the Bavarians. He said (via The Standard):

"There were talks (about staying), but we didn't reach an agreement, so the decision of February still stands. The feedback from recent weeks was the foundation for us having a discussion. But we couldn't reach an agreement."

Tuchel further claimed that it's sad for him to leave a team as he is involved in a set-up. The German manager's representatives have reportedly started discussion with Manchester United about potentially taking over.

Erik ten Hag's future is uncertain. United have had an underwhelming campaign this season. They are eighth in the Premier League table with one game to go. Unless they can surprisingly beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final, the Red Devils will go trophyless.

Hence, names like Gareth Southgate, Tuchel, and others have been discussed as Ten Hag's potential replacement. Bayern, on the other hand, have been linked with Hansi Flick, Roberto De Zerbi, and others as they look to appoint a new manager.

Manchester United have curated a five-man shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag- Reports

According to Mirror, Manchester United have a five-man shortlist in place to replace Erik ten Hag. Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna is one of the names on the list.

McKenna has previously worked as an assistant manager at United. He recently helped Ipswich get a promotion to the Premier League.

Apart from McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, and Brentford's Thomas Frank are reportedly the other names on the list.

United's hot seat is one of the most coveted jobs in world football. Hence, a decision could be made soon about whether Ten Hag stays at the helm.
