Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has identified where Rasmus Hojlund must improve despite scoring twice in the Europa League group stage clash with Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford on November 28. The newly appointed manager reckons that the striker needs to work on his touches on the ball.

Matchday 5 of the 2024-25 Europa League season saw United go head-to-head with Bodo/Glimt at the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday. The Red Devils drew first blood via an Alejandro Garnacho strike in the first minute but shockingly conceded two goals 23 minutes later before Rasmus Hojlund took matters into his hands.

The striker bagged the equalizer just before the half-time whistle to make it 2-2. He then went on to grab another goal in the second half to inspire his side to a 3-2 victory and earned plaudits in return.

However, despite the player's proficient display in front of goals, Ruben Amorim still feels he's got some improvement to do on the ball.

"I think he improved the connection," he said as quoted by Metro via Caught Offside. "I think he has to improve more because sometimes he gives too many touches when he holds the ball."
"But it’s very important for us because when we are in a low block he is the guy to hold the ball and connect for transitions. He did that very well, he has those characteristics. He was aggressive in the box, he is a quality player. I think he scores the more difficult goals. He has a lot to improve, it’s the same for every player, but he did a great job today," the Portuguese added.

Ruben Amorim has now overseen two games at Manchester United following his appointment, recording one victory and a draw to his name.

Rasmus Hojlund, meanwhile, has bagged four goals and one assist for the Red Devils in 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

What's next for Ruben Amorim's Manchester United?

After grabbing their first win under Ruben Amorim with the 3-2 triumph over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League yesterday, Manchester United will now look to build upon that momentum when they return to action in the Premier League this weekend.

The Red Devils are scheduled to go head-to-head with Everton at Old Trafford in their next game on Sunday, December 1. That will be followed by a massive clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, December 4, before they take on Nottingham Forest three days later.

As it stands, United occupy the 12th position in the Premier League table with 16 points from 12 games. They've recorded four victories, four defeats, and four draws to their name in the English top flight so far.
