Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is set to miss out on the Premier League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday, December 4, due to an injury, as per @AmorimBalll_ on X. The Red Devils will lock horns with Arsenal, who are second in the league table, in what is expected to be Ruben Amorim's first major test.
Amorim's side secured the first league win of his reign against Everton by a 4-0 scoreline at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Portuguese tactician will be looking to disrupt the Gunners' own fine form on Wednesday.
Manchester United will have to try and get a result at the Emirates without left-back Shaw, who has reportedly not travelled with the squad to North London. The 29-year-old appears to have suffered a setback to the injury which has kept him out for most of the season so far.
Luke Shaw's 2023-24 season ended prematurely due to an injury, but the defender was included in England's squad for Euro 2024, where he played three times. He suffered another injury immediately afterwards, only returning to action in Amorim's first game in charge against Ipswich Town. The England international has made three substitute appearances this season, featuring for a total of 98 minutes.
Manchester United's second-choice left-back Tyrell Malacia is back fit and with the squad in London. The injury troubles of Shaw, who is seen as one of the best left-backs in England, will be a major worry for the club, who are reportedly targeting a new left-back in 2025.
Manchester United star makes squad for Arsenal fixture
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has been included in the Red Devils' squad to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday. The 19-year-old Frenchman was spotted in his side's travelling party to face the Gunners in London.
Yoro chose to join Manchester United from boyhood club Lille in the summer despite keen interest from European champions Real Madrid. The youngster appeared in two pre-season games under former manager Erik ten Hag before suffering a metatarsal fracture in the second game against Arsenal.
Leny Yoro could make his competitive debut for the Red Devils against the Gunners. The recovery and availability of the French teenager will further bolster the club's defensive options in what is expected to be a busy month of action.
