Manchester United are preparing an offer to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as a replacement for out-of-favour Marcus Rashford, as per El Nacional. Rashford appears to be out of the plans of head coach Ruben Amorim, having been left out of their squad for the Manchester derby.

United fans received a major shock when the team to face Manchester City was announced, and one of the club's highest earners, Rashford, was excluded from the matchday squad. Reports have indicated that the club is prepared to move on from the 27-year-old forward who has struggled for form since the start of the 2023-24 season.

According to the report, the Red Devils have identified Spain international Williams as a target to replace Rashford and are willing to move for him. The 22-year-old reportedly has a release clause of around €58 million and the Premier League side have approached his representatives.

Nico Williams is widely regarded as one of the finest young forwards in European football, having enjoyed a hugely successful 2023-24 season. The Spaniard was pivotal for his country in their Euro 2024 triumph, scoring in the final against England. He also helped his boyhood club win the Copa del Rey and qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Williams has admirers from all over Europe and was close to joining Barcelona after the conclusion of the Euros over the summer. The Spanish giants remain interested in the youngster, as are the likes of Manchester City and PSG. The forward is expected to move in 2025, having chosen to remain in Bilbao despite interest from other clubs in the summer.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reluctant to move away from the club despite appearing to be frozen out, according to journalist Alex Crook. The 27-year-old was left out of the squad to face Manchester City on Sunday alongside Alejandro Garnacho as the Red Devils won 2-1.

As per the report, Rashford wants to remain at the club and fight for his place as he harbours hope of representing England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Marcus Rashford enjoyed a brilliant 2022-23 season, scoring 30 goals and earning a bumper contract at the club. Last season, he managed just eight goals for the side as his form dipped, and he has found the net seven times across all competitions this term.
