Manchester United will face competition from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur as they look to sign Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu. Reports indicate that the Red Devils are interested in the Danish teenager, who has impressed with the Serie A side.
Denmark international Dorgu has been tipped with a move away from Lecce in recent months, having indicated that he admires English outfit Chelsea. The 19-year-old has continued to perform excellently this season, making three appearances and helping his side keep one clean sheet. Primarily a left-back, he has operated on the wings this season so far.
The displays of Patrick Dorgu have not gone unnoticed, and HITC reports that Manchester United are the latest side to be linked with the young left-back. The Red Devils will, however, have to contend with interest from Tottenham Hotspur for the Denmark international.
Erik ten Hag's side signed a new right-back this summer in Noussair Mazraoui and are looking to target a left-back in the next window. The duo of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have proven very unreliable due to their injury problems, leaving the team light at left-back.
Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot has had to begin the season playing at left-back for the club due to a lack of options. The Red Devils looked to add another left-back in the transfer window but eventually decided against making any signings in the position.
Dorgu will be a great option for the side due to his youth and technical and physical qualities. The Dane is valued at only £10 million by Transfermarkt and is under contract at Lecce until 2027.
Like the Red Devils, Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for left-back cover for Italy international Destiny Udogie. Ange Postecoglou's side view Dorgu as a cost-effective option to bolster the left-back position, hence their interest in him.
Manchester United considering move for free agent - Reports
Manchester United are considering making a move to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot as a free agent this summer, TEAMTalk reports. The Frenchman has been without a club since leaving Juventus at the end of the 2023-24 season when his contract expired.
Rabiot is a long-time target for the Red Devils as they came close to signing him in the summer of 2022. The 29-year-old has turned down approaches from the Saudi Pro League and the Turkish Super Lig. He remains hopeful of joining a European side.
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their midfield following the struggles of veteran midfielder Casemiro at the start of the 2024-25 season. After the arrival of Manuel Ugarte this summer, a potential signing of Rabiot will surely spell the end of Casemiro's time at the club.
