A Manchester United fan asked new signing Joshua Zirkzee to convince Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala to join the Red Devils. The Netherlands international himself arrived at Old Trafford on a deal reportedly worth £36.5 million from Bologna this summer.
However, the 23-year-old star hasn't joined the rest of his squad for their pre-season preparations in the USA. That being said, the striker did arrive at Carrington to get his own routines underway before the start of the Premier League season.
It is here that he was interacting with Red Devils fans when one supporter asked (via SPORTbible):
"Can you tell Musiala to join United?"
Replying to the query, Zirkzee said:
"I've tried, I've tried."
The pair were together at Bayern Munich before Zirkzee decided to leave the club for Bologna in the summer of 2022. Up until that point, the duo played four matches together across competitions for the Bavarian outfit but did not register a joint goal contribution.
Despite fans' wishes, it is unlikely for Musiala to want a move away from the Allianz Arena at the moment. He is an integral part of the team, and is considered one of the top young players in the world today.
The Germany international has two years left on his contract and has made 163 senior appearances across competition to date for Bayern Munich. From those games, the 21-year-old attacker has scored 43 goals and bagged 31 assists.
Erik ten Hag opens up about Joshua Zirkzee's abilities after Manchester United transfer
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag opened up about why the club brought in Joshua Zirkzee this summer. Speaking about the player's qualities, Ten Hag said in early July (via the club's official website):
"He's a player who can link up the game, who can be available, hold up the ball, have good ideas, be creative, can dribble, (make) combinations.
"So that's a different type and always what we are looking for, so it gives us more options tactically, which is good because, especially up front, we have many players who can play very direct and they can take a big benefit from his skills."
Zirkzee has signed a deal with Manchester United till the summer of 2029. However, it looks like he will have to compete with Rasmus Hojlund for minutes up front.
Last season, he made 37 appearances across competitions, bagging 12 goals and seven assists for Bologna. It will be interesting to see whether he gets a nod ahead of Hojlund in the number nine role.
