The Manchester United trio of Noussair Mazraoui, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo are back in training after missing action during the recently concluded international break.

The news is a welcome boost to the side as they prepare for their Premier League home meeting with Brentford on Saturday (October 19). Mazraoui has been out due to illness since the goalless league draw at Aston Villa just before the international break.

Meanwhile, Garnacho missed Argentina's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to a knock, while Diallo missed Cote d'Ivoire's AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone due to illness. It's not yet known if the trio will be involved against Brentford.

However, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire remain out for a few weeks due to muscle injuries picked up in the aforementioned stalemate at Villa Park. Mason Mount (knock) and Luke Shaw (muscle injury) are said to be making progress in their rehab, though.

The Red Devils are winless in five outings across competitions - losing once - since thumping Barnsley 7-0 in their EFL Cup opener four weeks ago. Ten Hag's side are 14th in the Premier League, with eight points from seven games, six points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson set to leave ambassador role

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to leave his role of the club's global ambassador at the end of the season, as reported by the BBC earlier this week.

The 82-year-old is the winningest manager in Premier League history - winning a record 13 titles - with the club not adding to that tally since Ferguson's managerial retirement in the summer of 2013.

Since then, Ferguson has been United's global ambassador, getting paid a reported 'multi-million pound' sum. However, with new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe introducing a slew of cost-cutting measures, the club ended Ferguson's lucrative ambassadorial role, attracting a terse reaction from former player Eric Cantona, who posted on Instagram:

"Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at the club until the day he dies. Such a lack of respect. It’s totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever! And I throw them all in a big bag of s**t!"

The Athletic (via The Mirror) has reported that Ferguson accepted the decision 'amicably.' The legendary manager, a regular for Manchester United's home and away games, was most recently in attendance for the Villa draw a fortnight ago.
