Manchester United are ready to sell English attacker Marcus Rashford in the upcoming winter transfer window, as per Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg. Rashford has also been left out of Manchester United's squad for their Premier League clash against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Sunday, December 15.
Marcus Rashford didn't start for the Red Devils during their last two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old was also subbed off in the second half during United's 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, December 12. Rashford is a Manchester United academy product who has been with the club since 2005.
During his time at Old Trafford, the Englishman has made 426 appearances for the Red Devils, bagging 138 goals and 63 assists across all competitions. The 27-year-old has scored seven and assisted three goals in 24 matches this season. However, as per the aforementioned report, the academy product could be nearing a departure.
The Premier League giants are open to receiving offers for the English attacker. Apart from inconsistent performances, the 27-year-old's current wages are also a concern for the club. Selling Rashford will give the Red Devils more room for maneuver in the transfer market as they look forward to completing a few crucial signings.
Rashford signed a contract extension with the Red Devils in July 2023 and his ongoing deal will expire in the summer of 2028.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim talks about dropping Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for derby
United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are fit. However, he decided to drop them from the Red Devils' squad against Manchester City because of his evaluation.
The Red Devils will face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, December 15. Amorim made a shocking decision by dropping Rashford and Garnacho for the Derby. Explaining his call, he said (via centredevils):
"I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to the game. Everything. I make my evaluation and then I decided. There is a communication after the last training. They are alright. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained really well."
Manchester United are currently 13th in the Premier League table with 19 points from 15 matches. Additionally, they have lost their last two matches in the league. A victory against fifth-placed Manchester City will be instrumental for the side.
