Manchester United have previously been credited with a serious interest in Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, and Paul Pogba is a big fan.
Pogba replaced Camavinga on the hour-mark in France's 7-1 mauling of Ukraine on Wednesday night. The latter became the nation's youngest-ever goalscorer in over a century with his stunning ninth-minute opener in Paris.
Camavinga has earned mass plaudits since breaking into the Rennes first team in the 2018/19 season. Since then, he has made 38 Ligue 1 appearances and caught the eyes of many heavyweight suitors.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have been credited with the most serious interest. However, the La Liga giants seem far better placed to make a move than the Reds.
Paul Pogba loves reported Manchester United target Eduardo Camavinga
Camavinga has previously explained how much he looks up to Paul Pogba, but it appears the Manchester United ace's respect for the teenage sensation is on the same level.
On top of his links to Manchester United, Camavinga has also drawn comparisons with the 27-year-old throughout his rise through the ranks in France.
Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Pogba was quoted emphasising his admiration for his new international team-mate:
“It is a pleasure to see him don the shirt. To score after his first starts, that is honestly wonderful. I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that. His future is in his hands. He is very at ease, he is a little dancer."
"He makes me think a bit about me. He is not a timid person. It is good, because he is confident. He has confidence in his qualities. He is a very good youngster, I like him enormously.”
The prospect of seeing Pogba line up alongside Camavinga at Manchester United is extremely enticing. However, suggestions that it's a serious reality anytime soon would probably be far-fetched.
Camavinga has been a joy to watch in France so far, and it's frightening to consider how high his ceiling actually is.
