Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has seemingly liked a post on X that was criticizing Lisandro Martinez during their 3-2 loss against Nottingham Forest. The Red Devils fell to their second loss in a row under Ruben Amorim in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford (December 7).
Nottingham Forest took an early lead in the second minute when Nikola Milenkovic headed home from a corner. The latter did well to rise past Lisandro Martinez, who got beat in the air with ease.
X user @TheEuropeanLad posted:
"Unfortunately Lisandro Martínez got beat in the air."
Martinez's Argentina teammate Alejandro Garnacho liked the post as the X user later posted a screenshot of his notifications:
Rasmus Hojlund leveled the scores in the 18th minute with a simple finish. However, Nottingham Forest took full advantage of a pair of errors by Andre Onana to take a 3-1 lead via Morgan Gibbs-White (47') and Chris Wood (54'). Bruno Fernandes scored a consolation goal for Manchester United in the 61st minute but was unable to prevent his side from losing.
While Martinez struggled defensively, Garnacho was unable to make an impact during his 59 minutes on the pitch on the left wing. He missed one big chance and provided zero goal contributions before being replaced by Marcus Rashford.
"It's not a surprise" - Ruben Amorim offers verdict on his tough start at Manchester United following Nottingham Forest loss
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted he isn't surprised by his side's poor run of form following their 3-2 loss against Nottingham Forest. However, he acknowledged the fans' disappointment, vowing to improve the situation.
Since replacing interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy on November 11, Amorim has struggled to hit the ground running at Manchester United. He has won just two of his five games in charge across competitions, drawing one, and losing the other two.
Following the game, Amorim told Sky Sports (via UnitedStandMUFC):
"It's not a surprise because we come in the middle of a lot of games. It's really disappointing for the fans, after so many times with disappointment, but we are here to do a job and will continue doing the same things to improve the team."
Manchester United are currently languishing in 13th place in the league table with 19 points from 15 games. They next face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday, December 12.
