Manchester United defender Harry Maguire believes Ruben Amorim has proven he is a winner with his work at Old Trafford so far. He pointed out their structure, playing style, and tactics after their win in the Manchester Derby.
The Red Devils beat city rivals Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, December 15. Josko Gvardiol scored for the hosts in the 36th minute. However, two late goals from Bruno Fernandes (88', p) and Amad Diallo (90') secured a big win for Amorim's side.
The Portuguese side took over as Manchester United's manager on November 11 and has brought in his 3-4-3 structure at the club. In seven games in charge across competitions, he has four wins, two defeats, and one draw.
After their win in the Manchester derby, Harry Maguire heaped praise on Amorim, saying (via United in Focus):
“You can see we have a good structure, a good style of play, the way that he wants us to work. He is tactically very good. He’s proven that he’s a winner.”
Amorim has won multiple trophies in his managerial career, including two Ligue Portugal titles with Sporting CP, among other honors. He will look to replicate his success at Manchester United as well.

After the win in the derby, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was asked about his side's defending and he singled out Maguire, saying (via manutd.com):
“[Harry] Maguire is perfect when you play with the three defenders. I think in the middle [he] is perfect. Then the way that the striker that they have [Erling Haaland] with the long balls, you need to be really strong and so was perfect for him.
"Not just Harry, all the guys, defend really well. They were really focused and that is the key to play better. I think he did a great job and also his team-mates did a great job.”
Maguire will likely now feature for Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Thursday, December 19. They will face Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
