Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is reportedly on the radar of Dutch giants Ajax following his struggle for regular minutes at Old Trafford. Ajax are interested in signing the Denmark international as they look to return to the summit of Dutch football after a woeful 2023-24 season. The Eredivisie giants finished fifth in the table, 35 points behind champions PSV.
Eriksen joined the Red Devils as a free agent in 2022 and was a regular in the 2022-23 season, making 44 appearances and playing over three thousand minutes. The Danish midfielder played only 28 times in the 2023-24 season, playing a total of 1,432 minutes across all competitions for the side.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag seems to have Eriksen at the bottom of his midfield pecking order, seeing as the 32-year-old has not featured this season. The former Tottenham Hotspur man did not feature in the Community Shield against Manchester City or in the Premier League opener against Fulham.
Journalist Michael Plant has stated that Ajax could make an attempt to sign Christian Eriksen before the end of the transfer window in two weeks' time. The midfielder is wanted by the Dutch side, who are keen to re-sign him 11 years after he left their club as a youngster.
Eriksen featured 163 times for Ajax after coming through the club's youth ranks, scoring 32 goals and providing 65 assists for the side.
Ajax signed England international Jordan Henderson from Al-Ettifaq earlier this year and are keen on adding more experience to their midfield. The Dutch giants lost 2-1 to NAC Breda in the Eredivisie this weekend.
Manchester United youngster in talks over summer exit - Reports
Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is on the verge of sealing a move to Greek club Panathinaikos, as per Fabrizio Romano. The Uruguay international is set to leave the Red Devils after struggling to make an impact since arriving at the club.
Pellistri made 14 first-team appearances for Manchester United in the 2023-24 season, and already has an appearance under his belt this season. The 22-year-old featured in the Carabao Cup but reportedly has an agreement in principle with Panathinaikos to join them on a four-year deal.
Facundo Pellistri has just one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, which includes an option to extend for a further year. The Red Devils are looking to receive a fee in the region of €10 million for the youngster, who spent part of the 2023-24 season on loan at Granada.
