Borussia Dortmund have joined AC Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Manchester United's Marcus Rashford on a loan deal in the winter transfer window, according to David Ornstein via The Athletic.
Dortmund have a shortage of wide forwards this season. Donyell Malen is expected to leave the Bundesliga giants this winter while Karim Adeyemi is on the sidelines due to a back injury. Jamie Gittens and Julien Duranville have played in the frontline in the absence of senior players.
However, the Bundesliga giants are keen to recruit an experienced attacker this winter. Marcus Rashford is a Manchester United academy product who has been with the club since 2005. During his time at Old Trafford, the English attacker has made 426 appearances for the Red Devils, bagging 138 goals and 63 assists across all competitions.
Rashford has made 24 appearances for United this season, scoring seven and assisting three goals across competitions. The Englishman's contract with the Red Devils will expire in the summer of 2028, and he currently earns more than £325,000 per week.
Due to finances, signing Rashford on a permanent transfer won't be easy for Dortmund. The club's highest earner is Niklas Sule, who earns almost £160,000 per week. United's stance on selling Rashford is firm, as the Englishman has not played in the club's last six games in all competitions. Last year, Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund from the Old Trafford outfit on a six-month loan deal.
Manchester United to face competition from Manchester City for 25-year-old defender: Reports
According to Africa Foot (via GOAL), Ruben Amorim's Manchester United are set to compete against Manchester City in the race to sign SC Braga defender Sikou Niakate. The 25-year-old is an academy product of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He played for Les Parisians between 2006 and 2013.
After brief spells at multiple French clubs, Sikou Niakate joined SC Braga from Guingamp on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2023. The Malian defender has made 91 appearances for the Portuguese side across competitions, scoring eight and assisting one goal.
Niakate has played 25 matches for Braga this season, scoring three and assisting one goal while helping the side keep 10 clean sheets. United are interested in signing the Malian defender this winter, but they're expected to face competition from Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
His contract with the Portuguese side will expire in the summer of 2028. However, Braguistas are considering offers of around €30 million for Sikou Niakate.
