Newcastle may end up signing Dibling.

Manchester United have received some negative news in their pursuit of Southampton attacker Tyler Dibling. According to Football Insider, Newcastle United has emerged as the top destination for the youngster amidst heavy interest in him.

This comes after an earlier report that claimed both teams were interested in signing the 18-year-old. Former Saints manager Russell Martin spoke about it in the press, suggesting that the bids they received did not match the club's valuation.

Dibling has been a rare silver lining in what has been a horrid season for Southampton. The teenager came up through the youth system before moving to Chelsea for one year, eventually returning to the south coast in 2022. He has scored just one goal this campaign but has been a lively threat for the side.

Both Manchester United and Newcastle are believed to be pursuing the player. However, the Magpies' more realistic offer of giving him first-team minutes is believed to be the key factor behind them overtaking United in the race to sign him. He could seize the right wing position in Eddie Howe's side, where they have struggled for contributions from the likes of Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron.

On the other hand, the Red Devils already have the likes of Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony among their rankings, making a path to the first team difficult for Dibling.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola highlights change in Manchester United under Ruben Amorim

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola suggested that a change in playing style and system has occurred under Ruben Amorim. Ahead of his side's clash against Manchester United, he highlighted their control of the ball and defensive stability, saying (via press conference):

"I think they play in a different way, different system, different approach to the games," he also told a pre-match press conference on Friday.
"I think they keep the games more in their control. They've raised the possession they have on the ball and they have really good patterns.
"If we allow them to dictate the game and to be the team taking the decisions on the ball, it's going to be very difficult because I think they are playing very well.
"They are conceding very few chances, very few goals, they have very good defensive stats.

Despite their poor start to the campaign, the Red Devils do have a decent defensive record in the Premier League. Their mark of 19 goals conceded in 16 games is joint-third best.

Manchester United will be hoping for inspiration from their dramatic 2-1 win over Manchester City last week to defeat a Bournemouth side that has been solid. The Cherries are currently flying high, finding themselves sixth in the table.
