Marcus Rashford's stance on his future at Manchester United comes to light

Marcus Rashford is reportedly reluctant to leave Manchester United amid strong rumors regarding his exit from Old Trafford. As reported by UtdDistrict on X, the 27-year-old is eager to win a place for himself in England's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Things have not quite gone Rashford's way since last season as he has endured a difficult time. He only managed to produce eight goals and five assists in 43 games across competitions last season.

The Englishman's tally has been somewhat improved this season with seven goals and three assists in 24 games. However, Manchester United are believed to be open to offloading the attacker.

Ruben Amorim made a bold decision to keep Rashford out of his matchday squad against Manchester City on Sunday, December 15. The Red Devils came back from behind to win the Manchester Derby 2-1 in Rashford's absence.

The Guardian have claimed that the 20-time English champions would be happy to cash in on their star attacker. However, his reported nearly £400,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block in any deal.

Rashford is unlikely to receive similar wages if he stays in Europe but could even get a more lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia. And, Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad are believed to be interested in the Englishman's services.

The wide attacker, however, is reluctant to leave his boyhood club in the hope of earning a recall to the England setup. He is so far capped 60 times for the Three Lions and has 17 goals and six assists to his name.

However, his last appearance in an England shirt was back in March 2024 against Brazil in a 1-0 defeat. He was left out of the Three Lions' squad for the UEFA European Championship 2024.

Rashford has spent his entire career at Manchester United and has made 426 senior appearances for the club. He has found the back of the net 138 times while producing 64 assists for the Red Devils till date.

Jamie Carragher makes a big claim on Manchester United's plans to offload Marcus Rashford

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed that Manchester United might find it difficult to find a suitor for Marcus Rashford. The former Reds defender insisted that the Englishman is not world-class and earns too much at Old Trafford.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher claimed that Rashford should look to leave his boyhood club but his wages could be a stumbling block. The former England international said:

"I think in some ways, it feels a bigger decision than it actually is. I mean, is Marcus Rashford in the best XI? Really? How good is he? We’re not talking about a world-class superstar here."

The pundit added:

"I actually think we talk about Marcus Rashford too much, to be honest. He’s a good player – not a great player. It is time for him to leave the club. Whether there will be any takers with the wages the lad is on, who knows."

Rashford has amassed seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances across competitions this season. He was left out of Manchester United's matchday squad in the recent Manchester Derby which his side won 2-1.
