Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard recently made a hilarious quip about teammate Ben White during an interview with ESPN. Odegaard was asked to describe his Arsenal teammates in one word.
The Gunners captain had nothing but praise for his colleagues. He labeled Gabriel Magalhaes a 'Beast', Bukayo Saka a 'Starboy', Declan Rice a 'Machine', and William Saliba a 'Rolls Royce' defender.
However, when asked about Ben White, the Norway international offered an amusing response and poked fun at him. He said:
"Tan."
Odegaard then went on to describe Leandro Trossard as a 'Baller' and Jorginho as a 'Master' and replied 'Clean Sheet' when asked about David Raya.
The Gunners were in exceptional form in the Premier League last season as they sought to end their 20-year wait for a league title. Mikel Arteta's side battled it out in a heated title race against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
Despite their electric form last term, Arsenal couldn't clinch the title and finished two points behind the Cityzens. Odegaard and White played a crucial role in their title charge and were arguably two of the best players in the league in their respective positions last season.
Odegaard recorded 11 goals and assists apiece in 48 games for the Gunners, while White contributed four goals and five assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
"A top player and a top defender" - Martin Odegaard heaps praise on Arsenal summer signing
Martin Odegaard has lavished praise on summer signing Riccardo Calafiori after Arsenal's pre-season friendly against Liverpool on 31 July. Odegaard believes the Italian is a great addition to the squad.
The Gunners secured Calafiori's services from Bologna for a reported £42 million fee. The Italy international impressed with his performances at the 2024 European Championships and earned Mikel Arteta's admiration.
The club suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at the end of last month, courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho. Calafiori was not named in the squad, however, and is yet to feature in an Arsenal shirt.
Speaking after the game, Odegaard was asked about his first impressions of Calafiori so far in training. The Norwegian said (via Metro):
"I think everyone saw straightaway in training that he’s a top player and a top defender, physically. He has this presence on the pitch and I’m sure he’s going to give us a lot. We’re happy to have him on board and I’m looking forward to seeing more from him."
