Gareth Southgate looks forward to experimenting with the playing XI against Australia
England boss Gareth Southgate has stated that he is looking forward to giving young players a chance against Australia in Friday's friendly fixture at Wembley. The England manager told reporters on Friday (via Sportstar):
“We have good players, and we need to give people opportunities to show what they can do."
"Most importantly, we have got good players, and we need to have them in positions on the field where they can do their best work and feel comfortable, positions they play with their clubs so that the transfer is as smooth as possible.”
Southgate stated that the England football team has a prolific number of good players. However, he's looking forward to giving opportunities to a few new players. The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Levi Colwill, Eddie Nketiah, and more can get the chance to start for the Three Lions against the Socceroos.
The English FA boss also praised the Australian football team by stating that they are great sporting rivals. However, the Three Lions are currently aiming at a UEFA Euro qualifier fixture against Italy, which will take place on October 17 (Tuesday).
