Serie A giants Napoli are set to make a move to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei in the coming days, as per Fabrizio Romano. The Partenopei are interested in the Italy U-21 international, with Antonio Conte keen to have him move to Naples this month.
Napoli are in the mix for the Serie A title this year, with a three-point lead atop the standings. The Italian manager is keen to build on a strong first half of the season by strengthening his squad in January, and 21-year-old Casadei is one of his targets.
Casadei has been at Chelsea since 2022, spending the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Reading and the first half of the 2023-24 season at Leicester City. The Inter Milan academy graduate has failed to break into the playing XI of Blues coach Enzo Maresca, making only six appearances in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role this season.
Chelsea are aware of the interest in Casadei, who is keen on a return to Italy in a bid to get more regular minutes. Torino reportedly approached the Blues with an offer of around €15 million for the youngster, which was rebuffed by the Premier League giants earlier in the window.
Napoli have had success this season with their summer signings from the Premier League, Romelu Lukaku, Scott McTominay, and Billy Gilmour. They hope to add Casadei, who has been known to be a potent goalscoring midfielder in his youth career, to the mix this month. They want to sign the midfielder permanently, with the likes of Feyenoord and Torino still lurking in the shadows for him.
Chelsea set to sanction exit for summer signing - Reports
Chelsea are prepared to sanction a transfer away from the club for midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this month, as per Fabrizio Romano. The Blues have informed the English midfielder that they will listen to reasonable offers for him six months after signing him.
Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea from Leicester City, where he had been the star of their promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca. The 26-year-old was reunited with his manager at Stamford Bridge but arrived at the club carrying an injury, causing him to miss a few weeks of pre-season.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has found himself behind the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Felix, and Enzo Fernandez for a preferred attacking midfield spot and has been used in cup competitions. With only 55 league minutes to his name this season, the midfielder clearly does not fit into Maresca's plans at the club.
