Neymar picks Manchester United star as ‘most difficult player to get past’ in new interview

Al-Hilal superstar Neymar Jr. has picked Manchester United midfielder Casemiro as the most difficult player to get past. He said so in a recent interview with CazeTV.

The interview, which took place in Portuguese, saw the former Barcelona and PSG superstar make several interesting picks. He was asked the most difficult player to get past, and the Brazilian named his international teammate Casemiro:

"Casemiro."

Check out the full interview:

Casemiro is one of the best defensive midfielders of the modern era and came up against Neymar during his stint at Real Madrid and Sau Paulo. The attacker faced Casemiro with clubs like Santos, PSG and Barcelona.

They have played 11 times against each other, with both winning four times. As teammates, they have shared the pitch 57 times for Brazil, combining in two goals.

Neymar plies his trade for Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. He joined the Riyadh-based side from PSG last summer. As for Casemiro, he's with Manchester United, whom he joined from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

Both Neymar and Casemiro are not a part of Brazil's squad at the ongoing 2024 Copa America. The attacker is recovering from an ACL injury that limited his playing time during the 2023-24 season.

Manchester United's Casemiro, meanwhile, has been excluded from the squad due to his poor form following an underwhelming season with the Red Devils.

Neymar once named Manchester United among clubs he admired

In 2017, Neymar revealed his fascination for the Premier League. The Brazilian named United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool among the clubs he admired.

He also expressed desire to try his luck in the Premier League some day, explaining: (via the Sun)

"The Premier League is a championship that amazes me. I like the playing style and the teams."
"And who knows? Someday I'd like to play in it. I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool- these are the teams that are always fighting."

The superstar forward is now in the Saudi Pro League. Given the salary he would command, a Premier League move seems unlikely for the 32-year-old.
