Fans on X have reacted in disbelief after Cristiano Ronaldo boldly claimed that the Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1. The Portugal ace also commented that Ligue 1 only has Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), saying that the other 19 teams are 'finished'.
Cristiano Ronaldo made an appearance at the 14th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards event hosted in Dubai (Friday, December 27). During one of the segments of the show, he said (via @MadridUniversal):
“Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. Try to sprint in 38, 39, 40 degree weather and see. Ligue 1 only has PSG. The other teams are finished."
Ronaldo joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr in January 2023 as a free agent where he plies his trade to date. The 39-year-old has voiced his support of the SPL in the past. He also insisted their product was better than the MLS - where Lionel Messi plays for Inter Miami.
The Al-Nassr superstar changed the landscape of the Saudi Pro League following his arrival to the Middle East. Numerous superstars have joined the league over the past two years including former PSG icon Neymar, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mane.

"Real Madrid are ahead of Barcelona" - Cristiano Ronaldo makes bold admission at 2024 Globe Soccer Awards
Former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he doesn't understand why the general public believe Los Blancos are having a bad season. He used their league table position compared to Barcelona as his focal point during a segment at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards.
Real Madrid have struggled to replicate the form they displayed last season. Injuries to several key stars haven't helped their cause and they are currently 20th in the Champions League standings with nine points from six games.
Los Blancos are also second in the LaLiga table with 40 points from 18 games, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid. Despite this, they are two points ahead of third-placed Barcelona.
Ronaldo said (via @MadridUniversal):
"Real Madrid are ahead of Barcelona and they say they’re having a bad season? I don’t understand these things."
Cristiano Ronaldo made 438 appearances across competitions for Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018. He accumulated 450 goals and 131 assists, establishing himself as the club's top scorer of all time.
