Fans were amazed at Cole Palmer's professionalism in Chelsea's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, October 6. The English midfielder started for the Blues at the Stamford Brige and picked up an assist as the game ended 1-1.
The visitors drew first blood in the game through Chris Wood four minutes after the break. Palmer set up Noni Madueke in the 57th minute to help the London giants draw level.
However, the game was not short of incidents. James Ward-Prowse received his marching orders in the 78th minute and then a massive brawl broke out in the ending moments of the game. As players and staff members of both teams were having a go at each other, Cole Palmer was seen keeping his distance.
The reaction from the Englishman did not skip the notice of eagle-eyed Chelsea fans, who took to social media to discuss the matter. One wrote:
"He might be him, you know."
Another lauded Palmer's calmness, adding:
"Look at Palmer man, not a single thought in his head"
Blues fans mostly praise the player for his professionalism. One fan pointed out that Palmer was not interested in brawls on the pitch and commented:
"He only wants to play Football"
Another noted:
"He just wanna play. He don’t want no trouble"
Another posted:
"Minding my business has got to another level Cole🥶"
Another insisted that the Chelsea man was preserving his energy, commenting:
"Saving his energy for the stuff that actually matters"
The draw against Nottingham Forest ended the Blues' five-game winning run across competitions.
How has Cole Palmer fared for Chelsea this season?
Cole Palmer arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City in a reported £40m deal. The 22-year-old took little time to settle at Stamford Bridge and was soon an indispensable part of Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.
The Blues struggled to impress under the Argentine, but Palmer was a rare shining light. The Englishman scored 25 goals and set up 15 more from 45 games across competitions.
The London giants replaced Pochettino with Enzo Maresca over the summer, and the Italian manager made multiple changes to his squad. However, Palmer has maintained his place in Chelsea's starting XI and has been equally decisive this season.
The Englishman has scored six goals and set up five more from nine games across competitions in the current campaign.
