Ederson has left the door open for a Manchester City exit this summer. The Brazilian goalkeeper said that nothing was decided about his future just yet.
Speaking to the media, Ederson admitted that he was happy at Manchester City but did not rule out an exit. He added that he was calm about his future and said via Fabrizio Romano:
"Nothing is decided. I'm happy to hear that Pep wants me to stay, it's gratifying, he's a genius… I'm happy here. I'm calm. Whatever happens is in the hands of God, he knows the right path."
Reports last week suggested that Ederson wasn't happy with the praises Stefan Ortega was getting and was keen on a move. This comes after Ortega's key saves in their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial game en route to the Premier League title last season. Ederson was subbed off due to injury during the clash. He took to Instagram and rebuffed the claims, writing:
"Clarifying that the note published by the portal The Athletic, yesterday, referring to the supposed dissatisfaction on my part in relation to a co-worker. It's totally false. The supposed day reported was, without a doubt, one of the most difficult days of my career when I suffered a fracture that prevented me from competing in the final stretch of the season and, consequently, also from representing my country in the Copa America.
"At the time of the injury, my thoughts were just to continue in the match, defending City in the fight for the title, but the emotion of the match would be greater than the reality, and fatally, I would not be able to continue as I would have liked due to the damage it caused, completely blocking my field of vision. I remain focused on preparing for the season."
Ederson has been linked with Al Nassr and Al Ittihad. Cristiano Ronaldo-led side have moved away from the transfer, but Karim Benzma's team remain interested.
Manchester City want to keep Ederson, says Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has admitted that he wants to keep Ederson at Manchester City. However, he is unsure if the goalkeeper will stay as there are options on his table.
"I don't know – he has to see maybe now other options. Of course I'd like him to stay. Depends now the clubs. I don't know the situation. No contact in the last days. A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes and we see what happens," Guardiola said via Sky Sports.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City have no plans to sign a replacement for Ederson. They are ready to hand Stefan Ortega the starting role this season if the Brazilian leaves.
