Real Madrid boss hails Lucas Vazquez's performance at Santiago Bernabeu victory in El Classico
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti praised Spanish full-back Lucas Vazquez after his stellar display in Sunday's El Classico (April 21). the Spaniard was the difference for the league leaders at the Santiago Bernabeu and his manager was full of praise for him at full time.
After the game, the legendary Italian manager said of Vazquez (via Managing Madrid):
“Obviously, he is a very important player, not only for what he did today but for the entire season. He competes with Carvajal, who I think is one of the best full-backs in the world, and has made the difference today as in many other games. Carvajal could play, but there are players who are very good now, like Lucas or Modric. They help us a lot in this sense, after immense wear and tear like Wednesday’s.”
Vazquez stepped in for Carvajal in the game and had a hand to play in all of Madrid's goals.
The full-back first won the penalty converted by Vinicus Jr in the first half to level the scores after an early Barcelona goal. He then equalized for Los Blancos in the second half to take the game to 2-2 before playing the ball through to Jude Bellingham to secure the win.
