Chelsea hero John Obi-Mikel has claimed that it has been awful to watch Manchester United this season. He believes that the Red Devils do not have players good enough to represent the club.
Speaking on his podcast, Mikel claimed that Manchester United's squad is not good and they cannot help the club get back to its best. He added that they were horrendous against Newcastle United and should have been 3-0 down in the opening 20 minutes. He said:
“Even if you’re not a United fan, it’s awful to watch them. They’re horrendous. Newcastle would’ve been 3-0 up in 20 minutes. It was a disaster. Listen, it’s not the manager’s fault at all. Ruben Amorim is a fantastic and brilliant young manager. I’ve said it when he came into the club - the players in United, I’m sorry, they are nowhere good enough to be playing for Man United.”
The Red Devils went down 2-0 in the opening 30 minutes and lost the match by the same scoreline. They have won just once in the last five Premier League matches.
Manchester United are in a relegation battle, admits Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim spoke to the media after Manchester United's 2-0 loss to Newcastle United and admitted that the club was in a relegation fight this season. He stated that the club cannot hide from reality and added that they need to address the difficult moments. He said:
"That is really clear. It's one of the most difficult moments in the history of Man Utd and we have to address it with honesty. When you have these kind of moments, especially in the big clubs, it's really hard to turn things around, especially when you don't have a lot of time to train the basics, to cope with the difficult moments. So we have to acknowledge our position, the way you see the league, everybody can beat everybody. So we have to engage and focus on surviving."
Manchester United are sitting 14th in the Premier League table with 22 points from 19 matches. They are seven off the relegation zone while sitting 13 points behind Chelsea, who sit in the final UEFA Champions League spot.
