OFFICIAL: Manchester City win record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title after win over West Ham

Manchester City created Premier League history on Sunday (May 19). A 3-1 win over West Ham United at home on the last day of the season made the Cityzens the first team to do a four-peat in the Premier League era.

Starting the day two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, Pep Guardiola's side needed to avoid dropping points to be sure of creating history. They made a rousing start at the Etihad, with Phil Foden breaking the deadlock inside two minutes.

The Englishman was on the scoresheet again 16 minutes later, with Bernardo Silva picking up his second assist of the game, as Guardiola's side took control of the contest. Mohammed Kudus pulled one back in the 42nd minute to give the Gunners hopes of usurping City to the title.

However, Rodri slammed the door shut in the 59th minute, and from there, the three points for Guardiola's side were never in doubt. In the process, they won their sixth Premier League title in seven years, including the last four on the trot, to create history.

In fact, since a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa in December, the Cityzens went unbeaten in 23 games in the league, winning 19 games, to seal another top-flight title, making them the team to beat in England once again.

At 23, Foden is now a six-time Premier League winner, and he has only just got started. Following his brace on Sunday, the Englishman was undoubtedly pleased with City creating more history, telling Sky Sports (as per BBC):

"It is so hard to put into words what we've done today. No team has ever done it (won four in a row), we have put ourselves into the history books. You see what it means to the fans and to us players working all year for this moment. A special moment to share it with the fans."

Foden contributed a rich haul of 19 goals and eight assists in 35 league games this season as City created more English top-flight history.
