Chelsea fans have called out Nicolas Jackson's performance following their 1-1 Premier League draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday in the Premier League. Jackson was poor in attack and he failed to offer any meaningful contribution during the game at Selhurst Park.
Cole Palmer opened the scoring for the Blues in the 14th minute following a pass from Jadon Sancho. However, the Blues failed to kill the game by scoring a second goal that could have guaranteed safety. In the 82nd minute, Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized for Palace after receiving a pass from Eberechi Eze. Despite the Blues’ late push for a goal, the game ended 1-1.
In 81 minutes on the pitch, Jackson had a passing accuracy of 75% (9/12). He registered three shots off-target and lost possession of the ball 11 times (via Sofascore).
In the game's aftermath, fans expressed their disappointment with Jackson's performance on X, with one tweeting:
"Nicolas Jackson is the one who cost us the 3 points today, he had a lot of chances to score a goal and he couldn't even shoot on goal, terrible performance and it looks like he went back to factory settings..."
"Brother we cannot go anywhere with Nicolas Jackson man, transfer window is open get a serious striker," another added.
"Nicolas Jackson shouldnt be anywhere the bench for the next few games. Hes not only poor but dumb! He puts us in precarious situations every game with his misses , this is a game that we should have killed in the first half.," a fan opined.
"Someone should tell Enzo Maresca that it's ok to substitute Nicolas Jackson 😮💨," another fan opined.
"Nicolas Jackson is such a disgusting player! This idiot is making my life a living hell! He keeps on missing chances then boom teams score against Chelsea and I go back to a laughing stock again! GET HIM OUT NOW!," another vented.
"I think Obi Mikel is actually right. Nicolas Jackson can't lead the line for us. Should we sign an elite striker or stick with him?👇," another asked.
"Nicolas Jackson shoots wide again. He could've had three today.," a fan said.
"Nicolas Jackson has missed 3/4 sitters all of target but Chelsea fans will blame Enzo Maresca.," another chimed in.
"Nicolas Jackson is a finished striker and I'm not even joking.," a disappointed supporter opined.
"Nicolas Jackson is a good Center Forward but not to the standard Chelsea needs. He can't win us the league with how he misses the easiest of chances," wrote another.
How did Chelsea's midfielder Cole Palmer perform against Crystal Palace?
Cole Palmer was arguably one of the Blues’ stand-out players despite the draw. He was brilliant in midfield and scored the opening goal of the game. The Englishman had a passing accuracy of 73% (27/37). He provided five key passes and registered one shot on target (via Sofascore).
Palmer has scored 13 goals and registered six assists in 20 Premier League games this season. The Blues are ranked fourth in the standings having registered 36 points from 20 league games. They are nine points behind leaders Liverpool, who have played two fewer games.
Chelsea are now winless in their last four league games with two defeats and two draws. They drew 0-0 against Everton, lost 2-1 against Fulham and 2-0 against Ipswich Town before drawing 1-1 against Crystal Palace. They will next face Morecambe at home in the FA Cup third round on January 11.
