Former Marseille striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameryang has urged Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to join the aforementioned French outfit. The Gunners star has been linked with a move away from the club as he looks for more game time.
Journalist David Ornstein recently claimed that the Ligue 1 club are going to make a revised offer of about €20 million to convince the north Londoners of the sale. Of course, a little helping hand from Aubameyang would aid their cause, given the Gabon international spent time with Nketiah at the Emirates.
Together, the pair played 33 matches across competitions for Arsenal, bagging one joint goal contribution. With Aubameyang having left Marseille this summer, it looks like another Gunner could replace him.
Writing about the ex-Chelsea and Barcelona forward's involvement in this move, a reporter for the Daily Telegraph, Sam Dean, wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter):
"Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he has told Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to join Marseille, with talks ongoing between the two clubs. Aubameyang spent last season at Marseille before moving to Saudi Arabia this summer."
In replying to this update, the 35-year-old wrote:
"Already done."
A move away from the Emirates would certainly benefit Nketiah, who is behind in the pecking order for the number nine spot. Kai Havertz finished the previous campaign as Mikel Arteta's first choice in the position, and the Gunners' second option was Gabriel Jesus.
To date, the 25-year-old, who came through the Gunners academy, has played 168 matches for the senior team across competitions, bagging 38 goals.
Arsenal told to sign Newcastle United striker
Arsenal have been told by Jermaine Pennant to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer. The Gunners lack an out-and-out number nine heading into the new season.
However, the north London side would have to be careful when it comes to the Sweden international's fitness. He missed 12 games last year and 19 matches the season before for club and country due to fitness issues.
Regardless of this, Pennant told Coin Poker (via Football London):
"Alexander Isak would be a perfect fit for Arsenal or Liverpool. He's got the stature of a big number nine, which is great to have. He can finish which we've seen at Newcastle."
Isak has been clinical in front of goal in the Premier League. He's netted 31 times and bagged four assists in 52 matches for the Magpies while playing in the English top flight.
