Piers Morgan hits back at Jamie O’Hara with cheeky dig for ‘derail Arsenal trophy’ claim before derby clash

Piers Morgan has hit back at Jamie O'Hara with a cheeky response ahead of the Arsenal vs Tottenham derby clash in North London on Sunday (April 28).

O'Hara happens to be a notable Spurs fan, having spent six years at the club. The former player took to social media ahead of the game to post (via Mirror):

"Up the Spurs, the derail Arsenal trophy is up for grabs today, let’s have it"

The game, though, didn't start with Spurs derailing much, as they were dominated by the Gunners in the first half.

An own goal in the 15th minute from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put the Gunners into the lead. The situation exacerbated, as Bukayo Saka added another 12 minutes later before Kai Havertz added a third to make it 3-0 before half-time.

That gave notable Arsenal fan and popular journalist Piers Morgan the ammunition he needed to respond to O'Hara's quip, posting on social media (via Mirror):

"Hi Jamie - hope you’re having a good day."

The former Spurs man didn't seem like he was having a good day, as he lambasted his former team on Sky Sports (via Mirror):

"I said the next goal is the one. You ain't coming back against Arsenal from three goals (down). Shocking defensively.

"They've figured us out; teams have sussed us out all season. Set-pieces were a disgrace and this set-piece coach standing on the sideline like he's Pep Guardiola."

Spurs improved in the second half, as they began to hurt the Gunners in attack. Some good pressing caught out Gunners goalkeeper David Raya, letting Cristian Romero latch onto his wayward pass to slot it in the back of the net. More pressure led to a penalty for Spurs, which Son Heung-min buried to make it 2-3 for Spurs.

However, they couldn't find the equaliser to dent Arsenal's title hopes.

Gary Neville reacts as Arsenal score two goals from set-pieces in 3-2 win over Tottenham

Two of the Gunners' goals came from set-pieces, as Spurs seemed unable to find answers to their opponents' quality from corners. The own goal from Hojbjerg came from Saka's corner, while the third came through a Declan Rice corner, which Havertz nodded in.

The Gunners' quality on set-pieces impressed Gary Neville, who praised them on Sky Sports (via Mirror):

"Set-pieces, Arsenal have been outstanding at them all season. In parts of the season where they weren’t playing great football it was the attacking set-pieces such a big factor. They’ve just got options. The delivery is perfect but there’s four or five of them in there all looking like they could get a glance on it. Havertz does."

The Gunners next take on Bournemouth at the Emirates on May 4 as they continue their quest for a first league title in 20 years.
