Piers Morgan urges Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to sign a striker

UK TV personality Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to sign a striker in January. The Englishman gave his honest thoughts after Arteta claimed that the decision to buy a new forward wasn't his to make.

The Gunners were eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester United on Sunday (January 12). After a goalless first half, goals from Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Magalhaes in the second period saw the game stretched to extra time, even as the visitors went down to 10 men in the 61st minute.

Neither side could find the match-winner and Arsenal went down 5-3 to Manchester United in the penalty shootout, with Kai Havertz failing to convert his spot-kick. Gabriel Jesus started the fixture but was stretchered off in the 40th minute after colliding with Bruno Fernandes at the edge of the Gunners' penalty area.

During his post-match press conference, Arteta was asked about the prospect of signing a striker this month after Jesus' injury. He said (via Sky Sports):

"We miss from various ways, from different players, and I understand guys. But I cannot love our players more and I very much focus on the ones that we have to perform at the highest level. That's it. There rest is not in my hands."

His comments have upset Piers Morgan, who is an avid Arsenal supporter. The English broadcaster took to his X account to write:

"Can we just get a proper bloody striker even if you hate him, @m8arteta"

The Gunners have been linked with a host of strikers, including Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen, and Viktor Gyokeres, among others.

Micah Richards offers solution to Arsenal for area of 'concern' after Manchester United defeat

Micah Richards believes Arsenal's lack of decisiveness in front of goal is a cause for concern after their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

The Gunners had multiple chances against the Red Devils throughout the fixture. Martin Odegaard missed a penalty in normal time while Kai Havertz scuffed a great opportunity in the second period as his strike went over the crossbar.

After the match, Richards insisted that the north Londoners should've secured the win and criticized their finishing against United. He said (via TBR Football):

“Arseanl should have won the game but it wasn’t meant to be. Looking at Man United’s best players, it was their defenders and goalkeeper. You have got to put away the chances and that’s more the concern for Arsenal.”

Richards then named Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray, as a short-term solution for the No. 9 position at the Emirates. He added:

“The one I looked at short term is Victor Osimhen. The problems he’s had at Napoli and he’s been allowed to go on loan to Turkey.”
