Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, who has also garnered interest from Real Madrid. The news comes from AS, who claim that the Spain international's entourage are convinced that the Red Devils will push for him in the near future.
This wouldn't be a massive surprise for most people, given Ruben Amorim, who worked with Porro at Sporting CP, is now in charge at Old Trafford. With the Portuguese tactician coming in, the Manchester outfit have been linked with multiple players who have played under Amorim, including Viktor Gyokeres.
It is likely that Manchester United will see a change in shape and will employ Amorim's favored three-at-the-back system. Previous manager Erik ten Hag preferred a traditional back four.
The use of wing-backs calls for a more attack-minded full-back, and hence, Porro could be the man to do this job for the Red Devils. He loves bombing up the field for Spurs, having scored eight goals and bagged 12 assists in 67 appearances across competitions for the north Londoners.
If the defender does choose to join Amorim and Co., he will face competition from Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui for regular minutes at right-back. On the flip side, Porro could be tempted to move to Real Madrid over Manchester United.
Los Blancos are in the hunt for a new right-back as they look for a long-term successor to the ageing Dani Carvajal. However, it is said that Real Madrid may not be willing to meet Spurs' €70 million valuation of their player. At the moment, Porro is contracted with his employers till the summer of 2028.
Manchester United to compete with Real Madrid for Bayern Munich defender's signing - Reports
Manchester United are set to compete with Real Madrid for the services of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, as per Manchester Evening News. The Canada international's contract at his current club is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, he will be open to signing a pre-contract with a foreign club in January for a summer transfer.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are the current options in this position for United, both of whom have often struggled for fitness in recent times. As a result, Diogo Dalot has had to fill in, with the club struggling to find a left-footed defender in this position.
Davies would be a wonderful addition, given his attacking threat, particularly in a three-at-the-back system under Ruben Amorim. To date, he's made 210 appearances across competitions for Bayern Munich, bagging 11 goals and 34 assists.
