Fans have reacted to Christopher Nkunku's seemingly 'disinterested' performance in Chelsea's 5-0 FA Cup third-round win over Morecambe on Saturday (January 11).
Enzo Maresca's side enjoyed a fabulous outing at home in their cup opener. Tosim Adarabioyu opened the scoring inside 39 minutes as the Blues led at the break. Nkunku got on the scoresheet five minutes into the second period.
There was no relenting from the Premier League giants, with Adarabioyu adding a second before a Joao Felix wrapped up the comprehensive win with a brace. Despite the lopsided victory, fans weren't pleased with Nkunku's performance, with one tweeting:
"It pains me to see Nkunku so disinterested because his technical ability is insane."
Another chimed in:
"Nkunku is playing like he has been sold!"
There were similar comments from other fans, with one tweeting:
"Nkunku is playing nowadays like his head is no longer at Chelsea."
One wrote:
"Christopher Nkunku is a good player, but he shouldn't play another game until he leaves. It's so obvious he doesn't want to be here."
Another posted:
"Obviously a top player but the quicker we get rid of Nkunku, the better imo. Very apparent in his body language that he doesn't want to be playing in these sort of games anymore and honestly fair enough, but make that switch in January and get a striker in the door, even on loan."
One wrote:
"Felix outperforms Nkunku every single time they play together, yet gets grouped with him."
Another posted:
"Actually kind of crazy how much better Joao Felix is than Nkunku..."
One wrote:
"Omo Nkunku is a very very lazy player"
Another commented:
"Nkunku leaving and us paying a real striker is best for all parties"
Nkunku, 28, has 13 goals and four assists in 27 games acros competitions for the Blues this season.
"I am very happy for the performance" - Chelsea boss after Morecambe win
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is a pleased man following his side's emphatic win in their Cup opener over struggling League Two side Morecambe at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues delivered a five-star performance, returning to winning ways following a 1-1 Premier League draw at Crystal Palace in their previous outing. Maresca said (as per BBC Sport) about his team's performance:
"Very professional and very serious. I am very happy for the performance and for the final result. Today all the teams are well-organised and can prepare the game in the way they want. When we scored the game changed and second half, we were better."
The Blues next take on Bournemouth at home in the league on Tuesday (January 14).
