Manchester United fans have taken to social media to slam Joshua Zirkzee after his sub-par performance in their 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen. The two sides faced off in the Europa League at the Doosan Arena on December 12, with the Red Devils coming through with all three points.

However, they struggled to make any headway in attack in the first half while Joshua Zirkzee was leading the line. The striker was unable to hold up the ball, as the opponents regularly overpowered him. In the 61 minutes he spent on the pitch, he won just five duels out of 13, losing possession 19 times.

Rasmus Hojlund played up top after Zirkzee was subbed off and he turned things around for Manchester United. Despite the Red Devils going behind after a goal from Matej Vydra (48'), the Danish striker scored a brace (62' and 88') to seal the win.

United fans were not happy with Zirkzee's performance on the night, and they slammed him on social media platform X with comments like these:

"Zirkzee has the poorest first touch I have ever witnessed on TV. How did we even buy such a guy?" a fan wrote.
"sell immediately this bum to Juve," a second slammed Zirkzee.
"The one thing Zirkzee is supposed to be good at. 59% pass accuracy and 16 possessions lost. We were robbed," another wrote.
"Who ever sanctioned this Zirkzee deal should be sent to an MI6 black site," a fan added.
"Respectfully, Zirkzee, you’re shit. Stop free styling with the football when we’re 1-0 down," another said.
"One of the worst players I’ve ever seen in a United shirt," another wrote.

A brace from Rasmus Hojlund seals the win for Manchester United

It took a brace for substitute Rasmus Hojlund to seal the win for Manchester United. The Red Devils struggled to create any notable chances in the first half. They had just three shots at goal, compared to the hosts' eight, despite holding more of the possession (71%).

In the second half, a poor pass from Andre Onana gifted possession to Plzen, and Vydra was able to place the ball into an empty net. However, Manchester United found their rhythm after Hojlund and other substitutes came on.

In the second half, United created six big chances from 14 shots at goal. They generated 2.53 xG in the second half, compared to the hosts' 0.61.

United enjoyed 68% possession throughout the game, making 561 passes (83% accuracy) compared to Viktoria Plzen, who had 199 passes (65% accuracy).
