"He wasn’t given assurances of being around the first team" - Manchester United legend reveals how the club missed out on signing Jude Bellingham
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed how the club missed out on signing Jude Bellingham when he was younger. The English superstar was reportedly linked with a move to Old Trafford and even given a tour of the training facilities before he decided to join Borussia Dortmund.
Last year, Ferdinand lamented the events that led to the midfielder not ending up at his former employers. Speaking at the time on his FIVE YouTube Channel, the Former Manchester United star stated:
"Do you know what I heard it was, he wanted some assurances about being a first-team player. And United weren’t willing to give him those assurances, that’s what I heard from a very good source. He wasn’t given assurances of being around the first team and he’s said, ‘do you know what, I know my worth, I know my value and if you don’t value me the way I see myself I’m going to have to jog on and go to another club’.
The former defender concluded, saying:
"He’s gone and done that and he’s turned round and gone, ‘I told you guys, you didn’t believe me did you?’ And he’s gone Real Madrid and he’s tearing down Real Madrid, he’s tearing down the Bernabeu, they’ve just rebuilt it and he’s tearing it down! Unbelievable."
Jude Bellingham has become one of the finest players in his position on the planet at just 21 years old. In his impressive career, the midfielder has already bagged 58 goals and 46 assists from 240 professional games.
