"Probably the thing I'm most proud of in my career" - Manchester United star on opportunity to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has said that playing with Cristiano Ronaldo at the club is the proudest moment of his career, The duo were teamamtes at Old Trafford for one and a half seasons between 2021 and 2022.

The Portuguese veteran returned to United for his second spell in the summer of 2021 after spending six seasons with the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009.

Ronaldo's return was a historic moment for Manchester United, as the Portuguese international, who's regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, is a club icon.

Dalot, 25, said about playing alongside his 'hero' at Manchester United (via Awaydays):

"It's actually scary, to be honest, because you always have that feeling of not wanting to get disappointed about meeting your idols, but it was even better than I expected which surprised me because I was a little bit scared to know him.
"But forfunately, he (Ronaldo) is a great guy and a great human being, so it was really great to know him. For me it's probably the thing I'm most proud of in my career."

On if he knew if Ronaldo was coming back to the club, Dalot said:

"Obviously, I spoke to him, and he told me after the national team duties that he was coming back and he was excited about it. I met him in the Euros, and it was the first time I met him, and coincidentally, he joined Manchester United two months later.

In their lone full season together at the club in 2021-22, United finished sixth in the league.


How did Cristiano Ronaldo fare in his second spell at Manchester United?

Before joining the Red Devils for a second spell, Cristiano Ronaldo had scored 118 times across competitions for the club. He won eight titles, including three Premier League titles and the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

During his second spell at the club, Cristiano Ronaldo registered 27 goals across competitions for an overall tally of 145 strikes in 346 appearances. He now plays for Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr, whom he joined in December 2022 on a free transfer.
