Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has teased the name of Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo as a replacement for Mohamed Salah at the club. The Reds are moving towards the end of a cycle of players, with key stars like Salah nearing the end of their careers.
Jurgen Klopp left Anfield at the end of the 2023-24 season, and with his departure, questions arose about how many players would follow him out. One name that was prominent in these discussions was Salah, who was the subject of a failed attempt from Saudi Arabia to sign him last summer.
Mohamed Salah is one of the senior figures at Anfield, given the amount of quality he has shown since arriving at the club. Arne Slot's side is certainly looking at players who can replicate what the Egyptian does, as his prowess continues to decline with advancing age.
Japan international midfielder Endo believes compatriot Takefusa Kubo has what it takes to replace the Egyptian at Liverpool. He told Japanese show Abema TV about this, saying that the 23-year-old is the most obvious candidate to replace him.
"Maybe Kubo. They're looking for a replacement for Mo Salah," he said via Tribuna. "So that's probably going to be a real area for Liverpool to strengthen in the future, and if they think about who can replace him, I think it'll be Kubo."
Japan international Kubo contributed seven goals and four assists in 30 league appearances for Real Sociedad in the 2023-24 season. The former Real Madrid and Barcelona youngster has emerged as one of the finest young wingers in Europe and is on the radar of Liverpool.
The Reds are yet to make any signings this summer, with Arne Slot set to take charge of his first season at the club. The Dutch manager is said to be keen on adding attacking depth, particularly to ease the burden on Salah, and Endo is one name to look out for.
Liverpool target PL star to complement Salah - Reports
Liverpool are interested in signing Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze to complement Mohamed Salah, as per Football Insider via Liverpool Echo. The England international is wanted by multiple sides after an impressive season with the Eagles.
Eze featured for England at Euro 2024 after a strong season in the Premier League with Crystal Palace in 2023-24. The 26-year-old is contracted to the South London side until 2027, having signed a contract extension last November.
Crystal Palace have already lost Michael Olise this summer and will be reluctant to allow Eze to leave the club, as well. The Reds will have to shell out a reported sum of around £60 million to sign the Englishman this summer.
