Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has opened up on Argentine youngster Nico Paz after his impressive performances since moving to Serie A side Como. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder left Real Madrid to sign with the Italian side after finding regular minutes hard to come by at the Bernabeu.
Paz made a handful of first-team appearances as a teenager, but the signing of Arda Guler pushed him further down the pecking order. The youngster, who came through the club's La Fabrica youth system, decided to move to Italy when Cesc Fabregas' Como came calling in the summer.
Carlo Ancelotti was asked for his thoughts on whether his club could look to re-sign Paz in the future after his strong start to life at Como. The experienced manager pointed out that Los Blancos have been keeping an eye on the development of the midfielder, and they could sign him in the future.
“For sure he can be part of Real Madrid future. We’re costantly monitoring his progress at Como. He’s very good, he’s a top talent. This season was needed for Nico to play on regular basis out of Real Madrid, it was a smart choice," Ancelotti said via Fabrizio Romano.
Carlo Ancelotti handed Paz his debut in the 2022-23 season, calling on the youngster seven more times before his eventual switch to Como in the summer. The son of a former Argentina international Pablo Paz, Nico has been impressive in Italy, with his skill, pace, and overall technical quality catching the eye.
Nico Paz has contributed two goals and three assists in 16 league appearances this season but has done enough to earn his first senior Argentina call-ups. He assisted Lionel Messi on his debut for La Albiceleste in a 6-0 thrashing of Bolivia in October.
Inter Milan have scouts watching Paz with a view to signing him from Como, but Los Blancos have the upper hand. They have a 50 percent sell-on clause in his contract and can buy him back for just €12 million.
Real Madrid enter race for LaLiga star - Reports
Real Madrid have become the latest side to try to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, as per a report from AS. The Spanish giants consider the Spaniard to be the natural replacement for the retired Toni Kroos.
Zubimendi was the subject of widespread interest from Liverpool in the summer but ended up staying at Real Sociedad after turning down a move. The 25-year-old is contracted to his club until 2027 and reportedly has a release clause of €60 million.
Real Madrid are not looking to make any signings in the January transfer window and will only look to sign the midfielder in the summer. A move to the Santiago Bernabeu for the Spain international will hurt several sides, including rivals Barcelona, who have tried to sign him for years.
