Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has broken his silence amid rumors of him sleeping at the club training ground amid his ongoing divorce battle. Taking to his X account on Thursday, 9 January, Carlos wrote that all these rumors were baseless and that he was at a private residence. He also said that he was being supported by his family members.
The rumors gained ground after several publications suggested that Carlos had been sleeping at the Real Madrid training facility after filing for divorce from his second wife. This was necessitated, the reports stated, as his two houses in the capital city of Madrid were occupied by his wife Mariana Luccon, and her parents.
Carlos, however, rubbished those claims. Terming the stories as 'false' and 'fabricated', Carlos felt that these were written to generate more clicks, which is often seen as the barometer in modern-day digital journalism.
He wrote:
"In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family. While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumors about my living situation. These fabricated stories are entirely false and seem designed to generate clicks. I remain at a private residence, supported by members of my family. My legal team is reviewing these claims and will take appropriate action. I ask for privacy regarding personal matters and thank those who continue to support me during this time."

Roberto Carlos played for big clubs Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Fenerbahce in Europe
Carlos retired as a legend of international football in 2016, having played for several big European clubs such as Inter Milan, Fenerbahce, and Real Madrid. What will interest our Indian readers even more is that he also plied his trade in the Indian Super League for the Delhi Dynamos (now Odisha FC) in 2015-16 as a player-manager.
At the international level, Carlos won 125 caps for Brazil and scored 10 goals despite being a left-back. He won the 2002 FIFA World Cup with the Selecao and ended as runner-up in the 1998 edition to France. With Real Madrid, Carlos won four La Liga titles and three Champions League titles, among other accolades.
Carlos is most well-known for scoring a science-defying goal from a free kick against France in 1997. The ball bent at an unnatural angle from 40 yards out, catching opposition goalkeeper Fabian Barthez by surprise. This has often been referred to as being the best free kick of all time.
