Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has predicted a win for Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League meeting against Spanish giants Barcelona. The two sides will face off at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Wednesday, October 23. They are set to renew their acquaintances in the competition once more after they were drawn against each other.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich are familiar with each other but will be facing each other for the first time since 2022. They faced each other five times between 2020 and 2022, with the German side claiming five straight wins, including the famous 8-2 win in 2020.
Former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfield maestro Toni Kroos stayed true to his affiliations as he posted his predictions for the meeting in Montjuic. The former midfielder tipped the Bavarian giants to claim a 3-1 or 2-0 win, as he posted on his Instagram account.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona both sit atop their respective league standings after nearly a third of the season, making their meeting all the more significant. Both sides have lost one and won one of their two Champions League games this season and are in pursuit of three important points.
Former Bayern manager Hansi Flick has led Barca to win nine of their first 10 league games while playing very attractive football. Vincent Kompany has won five and drawn two of their league games with a Bayern side that lost the Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season.
Former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski will also be out for a shootout with his replacement at the club, Harry Kane. Both players are clearly among the best strikers in the world.
Bayern Munich boss tips 17-year-old Barcelona sensation for superstardom
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has tipped Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsi for greatness after his emergence at the Spanish club. The teenage defender has shown quality and maturity beyond his years to become a regular for the Spanish giants.
A defender in his playing days, Kompany praised the youngster for his quality, stating that he has the potential to become an all-time great. He did, however, include a caveat of an injury-free career, for the 17-year-old, in his press conference. He said via Barca Universal:
"Pau Cubarsi will be one of the best defenders in football history. He is young and impressive. If injuries spare him, he will be a great player."
Cubarsi has become a fixture in the Barcelona squad, having established himself in the 2023-24 season. A full Spain international and Olympic gold medalist at 17, the youngster will be tasked with keeping Kane quiet at the Montjuic.
