Brazil attacker Endrick became the first Real Madrid star to net five goals in a Copa del Rey edition since Al-Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this week.
Earlier on Tuesday (April 1), Real Madrid came back from behind to beat Real Sociedad 5-4 on aggregate in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg. Previously, Los Blancos defeated Real Sociedad 1-0 in the first leg of the cup semi-final, courtesy of a goal from Endrick.
In the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg tie, Endrick netted in the 30th minute after Ander Barrenetxea's 16th-minute opener. Owing to his chip, he became the first Real Madrid star to net five Copa del Rey goals in a single season.
During the 2012-13 season, Ronaldo reached the aforesaid goal tally for Real Madrid. The Portuguese scored seven goals in seven Copa del Rey appearances, but he failed to guide Los Blancos to a final win over rivals Atletico Madrid in 2013.
Danny Welbeck snubs Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo, names ex-Arsenal star as best teammate
During an interaction with Sky Sports, Brighton & Hove Albion star Danny Welbeck was queried to opine on Cristiano Ronaldo. Reminiscing about his former teammates, he replied (h/t Metro):
"You saw how early he got to the training ground, how late he left. I didn't play as many games with him but I still got to play and train with him for a couple of years and that was so special. [Dimitar] Berbatov had special qualities and what he could produce was out of this world I think he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He was quietly confident and knew how good he was."
Commenting on two former Arsenal attackers, Welbeck continued:
"I loved playing alongside Olivier [Giroud]. It worked really well together. Again, he's someone who didn't quite get the recognition he deserves but he was a top-class centre-forward. I'm going to go for Sanchez. I played a lot of games with him and I really had a good connection with him. He was one [who] could spot runs and find me. We just had a really good connection between us."
Welbeck, 34, played alongside Ronaldo just eight times during their time together at Manchester United. He shared the pitch with ex-Arsenal and Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez 71 times during their time together at the Gunners.
So far this season, Welbeck has featured in 28 total outings for Brighton. The ex-Manchester United and Arsenal striker has produced eight goals and four assists for his current club this term.
