Spanish defender Dani Carvajal has claimed that he won't play in Europe after leaving Real Madrid, hinting at the possibility of a move to Qatar. The Spaniard is currently on the sidelines due to an ACL injury he sustained earlier this season.
Los Blancos are reportedly looking forward to signing a long-term replacement for Carvajal. They're keen on signing Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer after his contract with three Reds expires next summer.
Carvajal joined the senior team of Real Madrid in July 2013 from German side Bayer Leverkusen. Since then, he has made 427 appearances for the first team, bagging 14 goals and 65 assists across all competitions. His current contract with Los Blancos will expire in the summer of 2026 and the LaLiga giants are unlikely to offer him a contract extension.
Talking about his potential departure, the 32-year-old stated that he won't play in Europe after leaving the Santiago Bernabeu outfit. Dani Carvajal also revealed that his former Los Blancos teammate Joselu called him to Qatar. The Spanish forward plays for Qatar Super League side Al Gharafa.
Carvajal told Esquire (via Fabrizio Romano):
"If I ever leave Real Madrid, I will not play in Europe. I will not compete against Real Madrid in the Champions League or in Spain. Joselu tells me: I'm waiting for you here. I'm saving the RB spot for you."
Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid are second in the LaLiga table with 40 points in 18 matches. Meanwhile, they're 20th in the UEFA Champions League with nine points in six matches.
Real Madrid interested in 19-year-old Premier League defender: Reports
Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid are considering a move for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in the summer, as per AS. Los Blancos have also been linked with Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni and Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
According to the aforementioned report, the La Liga giants are looking forward to rebuilding their defense. As a result, they were interested in signing Arsenal's William Saliba. However, he's highly unlikely to leave the Gunners, and even if he does, Los Blancos would have to pay a hefty fee.
The La Liga are now considering signing Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen, who joined the Cherries from Juventus earlier this year. Since arriving in England, the 19-year-old has made 13 appearances for Andoni Iraola's side, scoring two goals across all competitions.
Huijsen has also started Bournemouth's last five Premier League games, helping the side keep three clean sheets, out of which two came against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
