Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has earned a new nickname from his teammates after his brilliant goal against Sevilla in LaLiga on Sunday (December 22). Los Merengues won 4-2 at Santiago Bernabeu and are currently second in the league standings with 40 points in 18 games.
Mbappe's transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to Real Madrid was one of the most anticipated deals this summer. Despite a slow start at his new club, Mbappe has now scored 13 goals and created three more in 23 games so far.
According to a report by Defensa Central (via GOAL), Kylian Mbappe has been conferred the nickname of 'Mbappepinazo' by his Real Madrid teammates. The name refers to his ability to blast long-range shots from outside the penalty box.
Mbappe's goal against Sevilla perfectly justifies his nickname. In the 10th minute, the Frenchman received the ball outside the penalty box from Rodrygo. He unleashed a long-range effort that evaded Alvaro Fernandez's outstretched arms and bulged into the top-left corner of the net.
The second goal was yet another long-range bullet from the right foot of Federico Valverde (20'). Real Madrid made it 3-0 before halftime, courtesy of Rodrygo (34'). In the second half, Kylian Mbappe assisted Brahim Diaz (53'), who made no mistake from close range to score Real Madrid's fourth.
Sevilla's two goals (35' and 85') proved insufficient in the end as Los Blancos registered their 12th league win of the season.
Kylian Mbappe says he would have stayed in Paris Saint-Germain all his life if not for Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappe recently insisted that he would have spent his entire career playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) if the offer from Real Madrid hadn't come. The Frenchman joined Los Blancos as a free agent after much speculation in the summer of 2024.
The Monaco Academy graduate spent seven seasons with PSG before joining the LaLiga giants. Across competitions, he played 308 games for the club, scoring 256 goals and creating 108 more. He also lifted six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, two French League Cups, and three French Super Cups with Les Parisiens.
During a discussion on the Be United program (via Ojogo), Kylian Mbappe said:
"I spent seven years, it was an honor. I don't think I say it enough or show it enough, but I've always been aware of where I am and the great club that is PSG. I have always said that it is the biggest club in France and one of the best in the world."
The Frenchman continued:
"I went to the biggest club in the world and I always said that this was the only club I would leave PSG for. If I hadn't been able to go to Real Madrid, I would have stayed at PSG all my life. I had the dream of playing there and I'm very happy. Of course, I always watch PSG games, I have friends in the team and they are playing well at the moment."
After an underwhelming start, Mbappe has finally found his mojo at his new club. The Frenchman has racked up four goals and two assists in the last four games for Los Blancos across competitions.
