Real Madrid are looking to improve their squad this summer, and have already secured the signature of Kylian Mbappe. However, Carlo Ancelotti is expected to rope in more reinforcements before the end of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are interested in a Liverpool defender. Elsewhere, the La Liga champions are not planning a move for Mats Hummels this year.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from July 25, 2024.

Real Madrid eyeing Trent Alexander-Arnold, says Fabrizio Romano

Real Madrid have retained their interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The English right-back has entered the final year of his contract with Liverpool and hasn't signed a new deal yet.

Alexander-Arnold has been key to the Reds' recent rise under former manager Jurgen Klopp. With Arne Slot taking over the reins at Anfield this summer as the German's replacement, the 25-year-old's future has been subject to speculation.

Los Blancos are eyeing long-term replacements for Dani Carvajal, who is entering the final phase of his career. Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and could be a fine candidate to eventually fill in for the veteran Spaniard.

In his column for Caught Offside, Romano added that the Premier League giants are yet to initiate contract renewal plans for the Englishman.

“There’s still no substantial update now on Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future, despite reports on plans for a new contract. Liverpool want to keep him, we know that, but there’s still no substantial update on this one. We have to wait. Real Madrid are attentive as we said in March, it’s not a new story; nothing has changed in the recent days,” wrote Romano.

Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid are eyeing a Bosman move for Alexander-Arnold in 2025.

Los Blancos not interested in Mats Hummels

Real Madrid are not eyeing a move for Mats Hummels this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Spanish giants are in the market for a new defender following Nacho Fernandez's exit.

Los Blancos initially had their eyes on Leny Yoro for the job, but were pipped to the services of the Frenchman by Manchester United. Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid have identified Hummels as a possible stop-gap solution for the job.

The German defender was among the finest in his position in his prime but is in the twilight of his career now. He recently parted ways with Borussia Dortmund and is now available as a free agent this summer.

Los Blancos were reluctant to pay Lille's exorbitant fee for Yoro, which cost them the deal. As such, a move for Hummels would be an enticing prospect for the club. However, it now appears that the La Liga champions are not eyeing him.

The 35-year-old is also assessing his options before deciding on his future. Italian side Bologna are hot on his heels and have already submitted a proposal for his consideration. A final decision on his future is expected in the coming days.

Al-Ittihad eyeing Antonio Rudiger

Al-Ittihad are attempting to lure Antonio Rudiger to the Middle East by offering him exorbitant wages, according to journalist Marcos Benito.

The German defender was indispensable for Real Madrid last season, registering 48 appearances across competitions. He helped the club win the La Liga, the Champions League, and the Supercopa de Espana.

His efforts have already impressed the Saudi Arabian side who are ready to offer him a contract worth €12-13m per year. However, the 31-year-old is unlikely to consider a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Nacho Fernandez's departure this summer has further solidified Rudiger's position with the La Liga champions. Carlo Ancelotti considers him an integral part of his plans and the German defender is expected to remain a permanent fixture under the Italian manager.

Rudiger is tied to Los Blancos until 2026 and the club are unlikely to entertain any offer for the player at the moment.
