Real Madrid have added AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez to their list of potential left-back targets according to Fichajes.net (via Madrid Universal). Los Blancos will look to bring their former player back to the Santiago Bernabeu as it seems unlikely that they will land their first-choice target, Alphonso Davies.
The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with a move for Davies who is in the final months of his contract as they look to bolster their defensive options in 2025. However, talks with Bayern Munich over a possible deal for the Canadian international have stalled.
The Bundesliga club does not want to sell Davies and are looking towards offering him a new deal to remain at the Allianz Arena. Davies' financial demands have also made it unlikely that Real Madrid could sign him for a suitable fee.
As per the aforementioned source, the complications have now forced Los Blancos to consider other options, including former player Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman was on the books of Real Madrid between 2017 and 2019. He joined the club from Atletico Madrid but failed to become a regular at the Santiago Bernabeu.
After registering three assists in 23 appearances for Madrid, and spending the 2018-19 season on loan at Real Sociedad, Hernandez joined AC Milan permanently in 2019. Playing for the Serie A giants, the 27-year-old has established himself as one of the finest left-backs in Europe.
Hernandez has secured 232 appearances with the Rossoneris, scoring 31 goals and providing 41 more in the process. He also helped them win the Serie A in the 2021-22 season.
The report adds that Hernandez could welcome the idea of returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, especially if AC Milan fail to secure a Champions League ticket next season. As per Transfermrkt, the Frenchman is valued at €50 million and his contract expires in June 2026. AC Milan could be willing to cash in on Hernandez next summer rather than lose him on a free in the future.
Hernandez's qualities and experience playing at the highest levels make him a player of Real Madrid's caliber. Having him in their ranks will certainly be a huge defensive boost and addition to the club.
Real Madrid to face competition from Barcelona for Trent-Alexander Arnold
According to El Nacional (via Team Talk), Real Madrid will have to battle rivals Barcelona for the services of Liverpool star Trent-Alexander Arnold. Los Blancos have been the Englishman's major suitors for a while, but La Blaugrana are now reportedly interested in signing the left-back.
Arnold's contract with Liverpool expires next summer and he's yet to sign an extension. As such, the player is eligible to enter pre-contract talks with other clubs from January. Real Madrid hope to get the 26-year-old on a free, but Barcelona are now planning to offer him a substantial deal for his services.
However, Liverpool are also keen on offering Arnold a new deal. It remains to be seen if the England international will stay put at Anfied or jump ship to one of the LaLiga giants.
