Chelsea star Reece James took a cheeky dig at his teammate Tosin Adarabioyo after his stunning brace in their 5-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday (January 11).

The Blues cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup by making light work of the fourth-tier minnows. Adarabioyo and Joao Felix netted twice each, while Christopher Nkunku chipped in with one goal too.

While the result wasn't too surprising given the gulf in quality between the sides, to see Adarabioyo score twice in the game certainly was to many, including James.

He later took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself with the centre-back, tagging him and asking:

"since when could you shoot [laughing emoji]"

It's quite rare for Adarabioyo to score. In fact, he had netted only nine times from the previous 227 games in all competitions of his career so far.

The 27-year-old was in inspired form last night. He fired Chelsea in front after 39 minutes upon receiving a pass from James, outside the box. Adarabioyo made an audacious attempt from range that took a deflection on its way into the back of the net.

In the 70th minute, the former Manchester City defender came back to haunt Morecambe. This time, he curled a fantastic strike into the top corner from the edge of the box for 3-0.

However, this wasn't the first time he scored for Chelsea since joining last summer. Adarabioyo had bagged one in their 8-0 shellacking of Noah in the Europa Conference League back in November.

Enza Maresca will be hoping to see more of the same from him going forward as Chelsea enter a crucial juncture into their campaign. They are in action next on Tuesday (January 14) against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Chelsea return to winning ways in style

Chelsea came into the fixture last evening on the back of a four-game winless run. They had failed to beat Everton (0-0), Fulham (1-2), Ipswich Town (0-2) and Crystal Palace (1-1) in the Premier League prior to this.

Fears of an upset were palpable at the Stamford Bridge, but the Blues quickly allayed such fears by upping the ante in the second half. They netted four times after the interval, with Tosin Adarabioyo giving them the lead in the opening stanza.

Enzo Maresca's side finished with a staggering 28 shots in the game, of which eight were on target, while also boasting an 82% possession. They played with a sense of hunger and clinicality that had been missing lately, demonstrating signs of returning to form here.
