According to a report by journalist Jamie Jackson, via SportBible, Ruben Amorim will be handed a modest budget for the January window at Manchester United if he joins the club. The Red Devils splashed around £200 million this summer, bringing in Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee.

The 20-time English champions have been poor this season, bagging just 11 points from nine Premier League games. The Old Trafford-based outfit currently sit 14th in the league standings with a -3 goal difference.

Their poor performances led to the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, who failed to save a sinking ship after a poor end to the last campaign. Ruben Amorim, who is reportedly closing in on am Old Trafford move, will likely be expected to make the best of the team at his disposal.

The Red Devils will face Leicester City in the League Cup on Tuesday, October 30, under the tutelage of interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Manchester United target Ruben Amorim unsure if he has managed his last game for Sporting

Manchester United's managerial target, Ruben Amorim is unsure if he has managed his last game for Sporting amid links with the vacant position at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are in the market for a new manager after the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman led the club to consecutive cup wins in his two full campaigns. However, the team's performances in the league diminished in quality despite his excesses in the transfer market, leading to his dismissal.

Amorim has been tipped to be the former Ajax boss' successor at the Theatre of Dreams. However, he is uncertain about potentially becoming the sixth manager at the club in the post-Fergie era, telling the press (via Fotmob):

"Nothing is decided yet. I don't know if it's the farewell game or not, There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a contract term and when I have something more solid, I will come here and tell my position, because it will be my choice. While I don't have everything decided, for one side or the other, I can't tell much more".

The Red Devils have been poor in their last 10 games, winning only three, drawing five and losing two.
