Fans on social media have called for Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr to sign former Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Marcelo. The 36-year-old recently became a free agent following the termination of his contract at Brazilian club Fluminense.
Fluminense in a post on X on Saturday (November 2) confirmed that the club have decided to part ways with the former Los Blancos star. This was after Marcelo was recently involved in a heated sideline confrontation with Fluminense coach, Mano Menezes.
The Brazil superstar was set to be substituted into the side's league clash with Cruzeiro on Friday (November 1). However, he was sent back to the bench after exchanging words with the manager on the touchline.
Marcelo’s contract with Fluminense was to expire at the end of the year, but the club has now decided to let him go after a mutual agreement. He is now a free agent and will look to join a new club in the upcoming transfer window.
Reacting to the news of his contract termination and free agency, fans on X called for Al-Nassr to snap the Brazilian legend.
One fan urged the Saudi club to reunite Marcelo with Cristiano Ronaldo, writing:
“Al-Nassr should sign Marcelo and reunite CR7 with Marcelo.”
A second fan added:
“Sign him up Al-Nassr.”
“Marcelo is officially a free agent. How about a move to Al Nassr who says no?” another fan suggested.
“Marcelo to Al-Nassr? With his experience and flair, it's a tempting move—who would say no to that?” another chimed in.
“Al-Nassr might want to give this some thought,” one fan tweeted.
Marcelo left Real Madrid in 2022 after 15 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu. He joined Greek side Olympiacos after leaving the Spanish capital and played for one season before moving back to boyhood club Fluminense in 2023.
At 36, he is in the twilight of his career, and a move to the Middle East could be an ideal destination for the legendary full-back.
