Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has shared his thoughts on whether star forward Marcus Rashford will ever play another game for the club. The 27-year-old was conspicuously absent from the squad once again as the Red Devils overcame Arsenal on penalties in their FA Cup third-round clash on Sunday (January 12).
Rashford continued to be missing from the squad after first losing his place in the Manchester derby on December 15, 2024 (United won 2-1). The forward was dropped from the squad on Sunday for the sixth time in their last seven outings, further strengthening talk of an exit.
Ruben Amorim watched from the sidelines, as his side, despite being reduced to 10 men, overcame Arsenal on penalties to continue their pursuit of title defense. The Portuguese tactician answered questions about Rashford's future after the game, saying he did not know if the Englishman would play another game for the Red Devils.
"I don’t know. I don’t know, we’ll see. He is a player for Manchester United. We’ll see. He has to work. He has to represent this club, and he loves this club, but I have to make choices. [I] already spoke about how I make the choices. So it is what it is. So let’s continue. Let’s see the next game. And like I said, I have to make a selection," Amorim said (via Metro).
Marcus Rashford has not appeared on the pitch for the Red Devils since their Europa League game against Viktoria Plzen on December 12 (United won 2-1). The forward has not featured in his club's last seven games and looks set for a move elsewhere for playing time.
Rashford's brother and agent Dwaine Maynard has met several European sides to sound out their interest in his client. The English star has been linked with moves to AC Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund, among other sides.
