Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Mason Mount has picked up another injury and will be unavailable for their upcoming Carabao Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur. He has added that Noussair Mazraoui was also dealing with an issue but could make the squad to face Tottenham on Thursday, December 19.
Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Amorim gave the team news, while stressing that he was trying to keep the squad fit and away from injuries. He said (via manutd.com):
"Mason Mount is not available. He has an injury. Nous [Mazraoui], we will see today. The rest of the squad are ready to play the game. We have to asses all the players and try not to get a lot of injuries. If we do that, we'll be stronger in these kind of moments."
The Red Devils manager had also commented on the duo's injury after the Premier League win over Manchester City on Sunday, December 15, saying:
"It's more the problem with Mason and Nous. You think right away, you go in the tunnel and think right away because we have a lot of games, you know. We need to continue to win and it will change if we don't win the next game."
Mason Mount has played just 415 minutes this season for Manchester United. He has not scored or assisted in any of his 13 appearances this term, while he registered just one goal and an assist in the previous season.
Ruben Amorim yet to talk to Marcus Rashford about his Manchester United future
Ruben Amorim also commented on Marcus Rashford's future amid rumors that the forward could be on his way out sooner rather than later. He said during a recent press conference (via Manchester Evening News):
"No, not yet. It was yesterday, I gave the day off to the lads, so he’s our player and he’s ready for the next game. I spoke with a lot of players individually and during training, what I want is to take the best stuff of Marcus Rashford as the player so I don’t talk about the future, I just talk about the present, I want the best of each one of them and that is the key point for me, I just want to win and to help the team be better. We are better with Marcus Rashford, that is simple and we will try different things to push Marcus to the best levels he showed in the past. And that’s all."
Marcus Rashford has scored seven goals for Manchester United this season and assisted thrice. Notably, he has scored three goals in six matches under head coach Ruben Amorim.
